a cross-border truck driver felt bored of the tedious life and became a farmer 10 years ago.
a female factory-worker, decided to restart her farm work. in order not to leave the land uncultivated, she works hard on the lands while taking care of her family.
a former executive started farming as his new career, disregarding his mother’ strong objection. through joining farmers’ associations, he determines to promote local agricultural industry.
admittedly, the three farmers pick up farming with various reasons, attitudes, expectations and obstacles, but also face the similar difficulties: outdated agricultural policies, lack of support from the government, landlords and real estate developers stock lands for commercial use,finding appropriate farmland , and farmers’ associations eventually become part of the establishment.
can hong kong’s agriculture continue to develop? can we still regard rural villages as an alternative living space out of the metropolis?
